Putting in build waterworks

By its number of population
and industrial potential Nizhny Novgorod falls into the first quintuple
of cities of Russia, being Nizhny Novgorod region's center and a recognized
capital of the Volga economic region.
And all ecological problems present in the majority of large industrial
cities are inherent to Nizhny: high level of atmospheric air pollution,
due to pollutant |
emissions of automobile transport, objects of energetics and machine building;
contamination of shallow, underground and surface waters; formation and
accumulation of hard waste materials; noise, electromagnetic and radiation
contamination; change of natural and artificial ecosystems on the territory
of the City.However, due to The City Administration efforts and environmental
protection structures, Nizhny does not fall into the number of 100 most
ecologically adverse cities of Russia. Moreover, a level of soiling of atmospheric
air in the city is below the average in the country.
In 1999 a considerable reduction of air pollution's level became possible
as a result of transference of boilers, working on hard and liquid fuel,
to functioning on the basis of natural gases; substitution of traditional
air-cleaning systems at the enterprises with those which are more efficient.
The work on realization of the programs, directed on the reduction of polluting
materials' amount, emitted into atmosphere by cars - a main air pollutant
in cities - is being undertaken. Amongst them - a transference of the city
technological transport from fluid fuels on natural gases and installation
on transport facilities neutralizers of gases.
Realization of projects of construction and reconstruction of buildings
of industrial enterprises' sewage cleaning that has allowed to perfect a
quality of water of the Oka and the Volga rivers is considered to be an
integral part of ecological policy, conducted by the City Administration.
To provide population of the city with clean drinking water, sanitary works
of water networks are conducted, the program "Clean water" is
being realized, within the framework of which from 1995 there were installed
more than 800 systems of double-cleaning of drinking water in the baby and
medical establishments, as well as on the basis of a collective usage, as
well as realized construction of ozone plant at the Sludinskaya station
of water cleaning.
Due to the complex approach of solving the problems of management of industrial
and domestic wasting materials, new wastless and low-wasted technologies
are being introduced, a system of selective collection and of further rational
usage of hard home departures as secondary raw materials and new efficient
methods and technologies of conversion of departures are being developed.
To resolve all ecological problems is impossible, so the Nizhny Novgorod
Administration and the City ecological Fund choose priority directions and
develop permanent ecological programs, almost always attaining their successful
realization. |
